Nam myoho renge kyo

Nam - to devote oneself

Myoho - Mystic Law, the very essence of life which is "invisible" and beyond intellectual understanding.

Renge - Lotus Flower, which blooms and produces seeds at the same time, which represents cause and effect. This law explains that we all have personal responsibility for our own destiny and since we created it, we can change it. The quality of our lives is determined by the particular causes and effects that we accumulate through thoughts, actions and words at each moment. In other words, our thoughts, actions and words cause an effect on our lives. Each one plants a seed at the same time, be it good or bad. This is Karma.

Kyo - Sutra, the voice of a Buddha. It also means sound, rhythm or vibration.

Through the practice of chanting "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" one is able to reveal the state of Buddhahood in one's life, experienced as the natural development of joy, increased vitality, courage, wisdom and compassion.

Nam myoho renge kyo

Nam myoho renge kyo (Devoted to the Mystic Law of Cause and Effect) is the chant in Nichiren Buddhism. By chanting this we experience the energy and wisdom to make our lives fulfilled. We attune ourselves to the perfect rhythm of the universe.

I received my Gohonzon in 2004.

Renge (Lotus Flower)

The lotus flower grows from mud (representing ignorance) up to the clear sunlight (representing enlightenment). The lotus seed contains both flower and fruit at the same time.

Buddhism aims to awaken people to the limitless potential and value of their own lives.

Buddhist philosphy and practice bring about a positive transformation in the depths of life,

transforming fear into courage, deluded impulses into wisdom, and egotism into compassion.

Buddism begins with individuals deciding to take responsibility for their own individual lives,

reforming first themselves and their immediate surroundings and relationships and then

gradually extending their wisdom, courage and compassion into a wider sphere.

Our main goal is to attain Kosen rufu - World Peace
